Detroit Mayor Dave Bing will be presenting Elmo from Sesame Street Live with a key to the city of Detroit at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27 and issue a proclamation declaring January 28 "Sesame Street Live Day" in Detroit. The mayor and first lady will join Elmo and Grover from Sesame Street Live at the Children's Hospital of Michigan, where there will be a short ceremony. Afterward, the Mayor and Mrs. Bing will read books to the children and visit several patients with Elmo and Grover.
Elmo and Grover are in town for "Elmo's Green Thumb," which will be appearing at the Fox Theatre from Jan. 29 - Feb. 15. The Mayor Bing Inaugural Committee has purchased the show the day before it officially starts (January 28) in Detroit. Over 4,500 tickets have been distributed through various charitable and non-profit organizations in the Detroit area.
